About MZDI

About Mt Zion Developments, Incorporated (MZDI) has been at the forefront in advocating for quality housing and economic opportunities primarily in Miami's Historic Overtown community. MZDI leadership having completed 545 affordable housing units over the last few years, with another 160 units underway, MZDI has become an anchor community development institution in neighborhoods that "in the past" have often been forgotten ... "the past does not equal the future."

Organization

MZDI is a community development corporation; providing quality resources in real estate development to facilitate the creation of unique, vibrant and sustainable housing and commercial real estate development primarily in the lower-income communities of south Florida.

Established in 1965, the organization operates under Section 501(c)(3) of the IRS Federal Tax laws, and maintains a Community Housing Development Corporation (CHDO) designation as outlined in the Federal Regulations, and is governed by a nine (9) member Board of Directors. MZDI is also a proud affiliate of Historic Mt Zion Missionary Baptist, one of the oldest Black churches in Miami, celebrating 112-years March of 2008.

We often collaborate with other for-profit and non-profit organizations for the benefit of the communities we serve. MZDI seeks to maintain an on-going association to share knowledge and expertise in providing services in community redevelopment; creating, implementing and promoting programs related to housing and economic development, as well as advocate for initiatives that improve the quality of life for the underserved neighborhoods of south Florida.
